Networking:

  • • Provide a platform for public sector consultation with BAME communities in Barking and Dagenham and neighbouring boroughs.

  • • Provide a base for partnership working between the Public sector and BAME voluntary sector.

  • • Provide a base of networks and partnerships among BAME Groups.

Training and capacity building:

  • • Provide capacity building support to BAME groups, facilitate networking and partnership working between EMPA and Statutory bodies.
  • • Provide information, advice and guidance on fundraising, setting up organisations/companies; policy development and implementation of developed projects.

  • • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to member organisations.
  • Community engagement and involvement:

    • • Support BAME community involvement and participation in local activities.
    • • Reach out to all BAME groups in the Borough.

    Advocacy and representation:

    • • Advocate for BAME groups and increase awareness of their issues at policy, planning and service delivery levels.
    • • Advocacy and brokerage between the Council, PCT and other agencies for better services for EMPA members.
    • • Representation for the whole BAME sector.

    Champion for BME interests:

    • • Promote issues of concern to BAME groups and individuals in the borough.
    • • Work with, develop, support, advocate for and represent BAME organisations particularly in Barking.
    • • Promote good practice and act as a team player, role model/beacon of excellence to other groups.
